Education

We organize, educate, and mobilize our community to demand equity in our schools, to hold school boards accountable, and to fight for policies and leaders who put students—not politics—first. We proudly stand with LGBTQ+ youth, students of color, multilingual learners, and all those who have been too often pushed to the margins. And we stand with teachers, whose dedication and expertise are the backbone of public education, ensuring that students receive the knowledge, care, and encouragement they need to succeed.

We reject extremist attempts to erase history, censor curriculum, undermine educators, or impose narrow ideologies that deny students the full truth of our shared past and present. “Schools are not arenas for extremists—they are where we build the fair, free, and democratic society every child deserves.

We have been supporting teachers and students in pushing for Ethnic Studies requirements in our local high schools.

Opposing Book Bans

There have been recent pushes to ban books in our school district. We are firmly against any type of censorship due to ideology.

03

Legislation

We monitor legislation to protect and strengthen equitable, inclusive education for all students.  As such, we join students and educators in opposing California Assembly Bill 715.  Seth Bramble, the Legislative Relations Manager of the California Teacher's Association says "Placing parameters into Education Code around how people’s histories are taught moderates language and content in ways that will limit learning opportunities.”

Opposing SROs

We have done a great deal of research into the pros and cons of having School Resource Officers (Police Officers) on campus at our schools, and we are firmly against having them on campus.
